The Proposal #1
By: LaCheston Moore
That night we talked about your children, especially your
baby-boy. I cringed for the moment to
offer a finger and that he would one day grab and never let go. Shortly after that conversation, the next
thing that would happen, it absolutely caught me off-guard. I was introduced to a man that had the key to
my dreams and understood my vision without me giving him a visual at all. We shared stories back and forth, the ups and
down and trails that we both had been through.
How things haven’t always been exactly what we amounted them up to. He gave me two things: the first was a
point-of-contact to get some paperwork completed; and the second was an
invitation to an all-white event.
I really can’t explain the next thing that happens. So please continue to read, because this may
never happen. Due to the information and
invitation that I had just received. My
mindset fast-forwarded at least something that amounts to three. The all-white
event that “we” would be attending would be the celebration and anniversary of
the vision this guy helped put into passing.
But the one thing that he didn’t know was that this was the same night
that “we” created our own magic.![]() |
| Who's the mystery man though? |
“Thank you all for coming, I hope you have enjoyed yourselves thus
far. I don’t want to be before you long,
so let’s keep this show on the road. You
know that we are all gathered tonight for the celebration and the success of
this foundation. But what would it have
been without the mindset of someone with nothing but great expectations. It has been a pleasure to work with this
young-man from start to finish and now here to say a couple words, I give you.”
(Strong PAUSE after that last
paragraph! Take it all in now and here
we go!)

| What man wouldn't love to have a family to call his own?! |
I’ll never forget the first couple of steps that I took walking towards
the podium. The feeling wasn’t right and
I turned and looked over to you. The way
you looked me in my eyes, I knew that you were happy for me. But the twinkle in your eyes, told me, that
it was you and I, and I no longer had any worries. I stopped in my tracks and extended my
hand. With the baby in your arms, you
came towards me and I was then overwhelmed.
I always wanted a family and I always wanted to be successful. I stood in front of hundreds of people for
the first time without a worry.

I took in a deep breathe, I sighed, and someone from the crowd said, “It’s
alright!” I looked over to you, the
baby, and the kids one more time, put my lips up to the mic, and this is what
came out:

| Come through for me girl, stop playing games, lol! |
“For 5 years my foundation was nothing but a name. I tried my best to make it work, but some
things just wouldn’t change. I’ll never
forget the day that I actually signed the papers to make it all the way
legit. And since then, the Lord has
blessed me with a presence of a backbone I can never forget. Tonight cannot and will not be complete,
unless I acknowledge my support system.
This lady standing beside me has been more than a blessing. The exposure to her children has replenished
my manhood. The feeling of being wanted
and needed in a loving environment is everything for anyone to adore. I don’t think that any of this would have
been possible, without your love, nurture and care, fueling me to keep the
haters up-off-of-us. So yes this night belongs to the foundation, and yes this
night belongs to me, but tonight is also our night and this is why I’m on one
knee.”

A Good Black Man
Good
Black Men are indeed all around us. We pass them on the streets, in the
malls, and the halls at work. Most we can’t see because we don’t know
what a good man really looks like. He usually isn’t flashy enough or
rich enough to turn our heads. He might not wear a suit or push a Lexus.
He might not have a body like Tyson with a Denzel face. But, as you
mature, you realize it’s better to find someone who’s got your back
rather than someone who turns your head.
A good man doesn’t agree wholeheartedly with everything you say. He doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear and do the opposite. He doesn’t declare how sensitive, sweet, caring, sincere, etc. he is (he won’t have to because it shows). He has his own opinions and yours may clash, but he doesn’t have to degrade you to prove he’s right. He even admits at times to being wrong, especially if you are willing to do the same.
A good man is not going to meet every item on your checklist. He is human with frailties and faults mixed in with all of his wonderful, strong attributes. He needs your love and respect. He needs to feel that you don’t live to catch him doing something wrong so you can declare, “Aha! I knew you were a dog!”
A good man isn’t insecure about his woman having great achievements. In fact, he is her number one supporter and becomes disappointed with her when she begins to lose herself, especially for the sake of not hurting his feelings, or only wanting to make him happy. His happiness comes with seeing her excel in her dreams and accomplishing her goals. For as she excels and is exalted, a good woman will bring her good man right along with her.
A good man doesn’t necessarily give you a huge birthday or Valentine’s gift. He shows his love in the ways that are comfortable to him. Don’t judge him by TV standards. No one is really living a fairy tale. You’ll miss out on your own fairy tale by buying into the myth that our men are no good. It’s just not true.
A good black man is a man of his word. He says what he means and means what he says. His word is his bond. He never leaves you wondering if he is going to call or show up – he is dependable. A good black man has a love and a heart for God. As his relationship and love with and for God grows so will his relationship and love with and for you grow… Our beautiful black men we salute you, appreciate you and thank you for who you are and all you’ve done.
Pass this along to some of the Good Black Men you know and a few women that need to read it … So that they can recognize a good black man.

"DiVersODy"
By: LaCheston Moore
“Shawty where you headed tonight?” a popular line within the hit
single “Tear it Up” by Controversy and Big D, but also a common phrase in which
we have all used at some point in time.
One could safely say that with these catchy tag-lines and soothing, yet
bouncy music, that they possess the formula for success as their music can move
any crowd.
Controversy and Big D capture words such as, “soothing, fun,
sexy, and mind provoking” when describing their music to iPubNow. When
considering the ideal audience in which the group chooses to target, they would
like to win the hearts and minds of the younger-college crowd.
After seeing an exhilarating performance at a local sports
bar in Birmingham, Alabama, one would find themselves placing bets on when this
group will take off. Energy, they got
that; Hype, they got that; Fans, they got that, as I seen them bring in a
number of people with them just for their performance that night. The vibe that was created when Controversy
and Big D hit the stage is one that you will find yourself bobbing your head
and singing too; and you have to mention dancing. From authenticating their own dance moves, to
singing to the young ladies on the front rows of their shows. These young cats may have what it takes to
take their music to the next level.
iPubNow finally caught up with Controversy and Big D as they
have been hitting the studio hard and making videos for their newly released
mixtape Lyrical Healing (http://controversybigd.bandcamp.com/album/lyrical-healing). The mixtape features their highly favored Tear
it Up, Ride Wit Me, Put It On Me, and I Must Be The Man. Some of these tracks do have official music
videos that can be viewed on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce09DaQF5H0).
When trying to categorize these young gentlemen, you might
find yourself going in circles.
Controversy and Big D told iPubNow that they, “wish to crossover into
all genres. Creating a sound that is
like none other in the industry.”
With Controversy and Big D favorite rappers being Eminem and
Tupac; and their favorite R&B singers Musiq Soulchild and Sisqo. One could probably see that they like to mix
it up and see what it is that they can produce without mimicking anyone in the
industry at all. The group goes on to
state that, “we use no one’s music or style when writing and if we sample
anything, its soul music that we produce newly upscale beats to.”
Controversy and Big D drive speaks for itself. Within the next year or so, their goals are
to be interviewing and discussing longevity with major record labels. They are also geared towards ensuring that their
music is heard nationwide.
So in conclusion, on behalf of Controversy and Big D, from
iPubNow, “We finna tear it up”.

![]() |
| @KeyshiaKAOIR to host "FliFriday's" with @LABELLIFEGUY at the PH Ultra Lounge, downtown Birmingham |
When choosing the ideal words to describe Ms. Ka’oir, a normal person would find themselves describing her as fine, beautiful, banging, and mainly focusing on her physical features. But through creating her cosmetic line “KA’OIR”she has proved to world that she is so much more. Keyshia utilizes her “products to demonstrate everything that she is; bright, young, and vibrant” (http://keyshiakaoir.com/bio/). So if one wanted to attempt to grasp the concept of Ms. Ka’oir, they should respond by saying that she is creative with amazing drive, presenting energy that could move a room full of people anywhere.

Keyshia tell us in her documentary that can be viewed on YouTube (@KeyshiaKaoir- #BuildingTheBrandPART1 (Documentary) that, “I blew up in the industry in one year. I did videos, I’m on the cover of magazines, I’m the model of the year. But at the end of the day, it’s how I presented myself. I don’t have the label behind me of as, “O she’s such and such, whatever whatever, and now I’m the CEO of my own lipstick line. Like, I used it as a step-in-stone” (Keyshia Ka’oir,YouTube Documentary). Keyshia keep her main objectives in mind when it came to her progress and entrepreneurship, she made things very clear, it’s about business and that is exactly why I am here.

Throughout watching Keyshia in her documentary, one will find themselves continuously laughing and smiling at the screen, as she gives off an impression as in easy-go person. Not to get that confused or take away that Keyshia clearly states that she is a “BOSS”. As she recognizes how things should be done, how to communicate with all reliable sources, and cross the finish-line victoriously.
